Ticks, Trails & Camping Season
It finally feels like summer in the Okanagan! Suddenly you’re outside way more than you’re inside, and your dog is basically living their best life in the yard.
With all that extra time outdoors comes a bit more mess and a lot less patience for dealing with it.
That is where Poo Worx comes in. Whether it is regular scooping or a one-time clean up, we help keep your yard easy to enjoy so you can actually make the most of these long summer days with your pup.
Ticks become more active as temperatures rise, especially in grassy areas, forests, and along hiking trails.
A few simple ways to protect your dog:
Check your dog after walks, paying close attention to ears, neck, armpits, and between toes
Keep grass trimmed around your yard
Talk to your veterinarian about tick prevention options
Remove ticks promptly with fine-tipped tweezers if you find one
Making tick checks part of your routine can help catch problems before they become serious.
Bringing your dog camping is a great experience, but a few small details can make it go from stressful to smooth.
Before you head out, make sure you’ve thought about these often overlooked essentials:
✔ Bring a long line or tie-out option so your dog can safely move around your site
✔ Pack a towel specifically for your dog so you’re not using your own towel
✔ Bring more water than you think you need, especially if your dog is more active than usual
✔ Do a quick tick and burr check at the end of each day, not just when you get home
✔ Keep your dog’s routine as normal as possible with feeding times to avoid stomach upset ✔ Have a “settle spot” like a mat or blanket so your dog has a consistent place to rest
✔ Practice recall before your trip if your dog will be off leash in safe areas
✔ Bring a small light or reflective gear if your dog might be moving around camp at night
A little extra preparation helps your dog feel more secure in a new environment and makes the whole trip more enjoyable for everyone.
A refreshing summer treat for hot days.
Ingredients
2 cups seedless watermelon, cubed
1/2 cup plain unsweetened yogurt
Instructions
Blend the watermelon and yogurt until smooth.
Pour into silicone molds or ice cube tray.
Freeze for 3 to 4 hours.
Serve as a cool summer treat.
Always introduce new treats slowly and in moderation.
Warm weather can cause odors to build up quickly in the yard. Regular poop scooping helps prevent smells before they start, keeps bacteria levels lower, and creates a cleaner environment for your family and pets.
Instead of spending your summer worrying about yard cleanup, let Poo Worx handle the dirty work so you can spend more time enjoying BBQs, backyard games, and relaxing evenings outdoors.
A clean yard means more time enjoying summer and less time managing messes.
